Drawing inspiration from Calder’s sculptures and enlarging the idea of mobility to the Arts, we tried to built our own “mobile” using materials typical of our region.
A PowerPoint presentation about “How to build a mobile” was made, sent to partner schools and then shown with explanation by the students of the Italian delegation at the Greek meeting at the beginning of the project.
One method consisted in finding some supports, some little pendant to hang and some string to link different parts: all the structure could move when it was hung. It was nice to chose different materials: in the Italian “mobile”, for example, there were some vine branches, hazelnuts, little stones, dried orange slices, white little grapes made of salt paste and other things.
Some partner schools decided to hang only one kind of very typical pendants; other ones built different structure. One nice Finnish idea was a planet Earth with Europe and the countries involved in the project moving on it and a little telescope hanging over them, to remind the GPS satellites that we were trying to use with our navigators.
This activity was devised and carried out also to involve into the project the disabled students.
