The Finnish and Lithuanian Delegations arrived to Naxos island with Blue Star Ferries at 23.30 local time. The Naxos lyceum teachers and students where at the port of Naxos waiting us. When we arrived our hosts welcomed us friendly and after that they told us where we will stay and leave next seven days. Then they drove the Finnish land surveying teachers to Fikas hotel where they checked in and went to sleep.
14.12.2007 Friday
Finnish and Lithuanian delegations had free day so we where all day long in downtown of Naxos city and walk a round the Naxos Hora and all so tasted local spinach pie. At the night time German and Italian delegations arrived to port of Naxos and we where there welcoming them to beautiful island of Naxos.
15.12.2007 Saturday
In the morning 9 o’clock we went to Lyceum of Naxos where the students and the teachers welcomed us to their school. After talking to students of Lyceum we walk to Hora. First we started from Archaeological museum where we saw ancient monuments, gold, bowls and portraits. After being a moment in a museum we walked to Catholic Cathedral where priest told us about the history of the church. From the church we walked to the Hora castle to the hill 30 meter above sea level where student from Lyceum of Naxos told us about the history of the castle. Our last historical Naxos sight was Portara monument witch is land mark of the island. After being a while in near the Portara monument we walked to the Paralia Town Hall where the political decisions are made what comes to Naxos island so some of us ask questions from the local politician in the City hall.
16.12.2007 Sunday
In the morning we went to the Lyceum of Naxos where bus was waiting for us. The bus took us to the archaeological site of Iria where we heard the history of Iria. From Iria bus drived us to local factory where we heard facts about cheese production from cheese factory employee and we tasted famous Naxos Graviera.
17.12.2007 Monday
In the morning we were in Lyceum of Naxos school library where we heard about weblog, Fronter and how to use these programs. Land surveying teacher Jari Hotinen presented us Fronter program as a possibility in future for Comenius projects and the German delegation told us basics about weblogs like what it is and how can we use it in our projects.
18.12.2007 Tuesday
In the morning delegations met eachother at the school. Before that we measured with Handheld GPS device distance from Fikas hotel to lyceum of Naxos and we also saved some places with small symbols the sights like Kalamitsia Tower near Melanes to the handheld GPS. From Kalamitsia we went to Ceramic pottery where we could watch how ceramics are made by hand and buy a ceramics from local ceramic artist in the village of Damalas. In the end of the day we had lunch and we learned how the olive oil was made in traditional way long long time ago in olive factory.
19.12.2007 Wednesday
In school library delegations presented there mobile work. We talked about next meeting of Finland and in the end we watched a movie about immigrant and after movie we ate food and listed Greek music and watched traditional Greek dance.
20.12.2007 Thursday
After an exiting week delegations started journey back to home.
